History of the Bugatti brand

The French automobile company Bugatti was founded by the artist and engineer Ettore Bugatti in 1909. The Italian Ettore Arco Bugatti comes from a family of artists and his first car, created in 1900, won an award for its originality at an exhibition in Milan. Bugatti first produced three models – the Type 13, the Type 15 and the Type 17. The Type 13 came second in the 1911 French Grand Prix.

This model was a great achievement by Bugatti and became the basis for further modifications until the 59 model appeared. Sports cars Type 16 and Type 18 were made in 1914. At the European Grand Prix in 1924, the Bugatti Type 35 took all the first four places. Five years in a row, the Bugatti Type 35 and its modifications took prizes in prestigious races. From 1924 to 1930, the company produced 336 cars of the Bugatti Type 35 model. This model decorated the Bugatti 1800 with victories in racing competitions.

In 1927, the famous Type 41 “La Royale” car was developed, which for its time became one of the most luxurious and prestigious. The spokes of this machine assembled from piano strings were already a work of art. At an exhibition in Paris in 1947, the company presented the Type 73 model, but the car was not put into production due to the death of Ettore Bugatti in August. In 1987, after a long production pause, the Bugatti company, as well as its important drawings and various projects, was acquired by the Italian businessman Romano Artioli.

This person creates Bugatti Automobili S.p.A. and is building a plant in northern Italy, not far from Modena. The company presented the new model to the public in September 1991 – this is the Bugatti EB 110 GT supercar with an engine of 553 horsepower. Three years later, the company is not having the best of times, and already in 1995 Bugatti was declared bankrupt.

Bugatti takes on a new life in 1998, when the Volkswagen concern bought out all the rights to this brand. In 2001, at the Geneva Motor Show, the company introduced the 1001-horsepower supercar Bugatti Veyron – this car became the pride of the company, the embodiment of the latest innovations in the world of high technology. Serial production of Veyron began only in 2005, 3 years later Bugatti released this model with an open top.

In 2011, the fastest modification of a supercar was released – Veyron Super Sport received a 1200-horsepower engine and set a world record, gaining a top speed of 431 km / h. In 2016, the audience of the Geneva Motor Show was shown the Bugatti Chiron hypercar, equipped with an 8-liter W16 engine with 4 turbochargers. At the time of the start of sales, the cost of this car in Europe began at 2.4 million euros.
