History of the Ford brand

The talented engineer and famous businessman Henry Ford (1863-1947) created his company Ford Motor Company (Ford Motor) in 1903. Initially, the company was located on the territory of a small factory that produced carriages. In 1908, the production car “T” appears. For reliability and not a high price, this model was popularly called “Lizzy”. In the same year, the company sold 10,660 Lizzie cars, setting a sales record. In 1913, Ford made his famous organizational move – he introduced a conveyor assembly of cars at his factory.

In 1917, the Ford company masters the production of trucks and tractors. In 1927, a plant in Japan was put into operation, in 1928, a service center in Shanghai, and in 1929, assembly of Ford cars in Austria began.

In 1932, the company for the first time launches the production of V-engines with eight cylinders. The Ford brand becomes the most popular in the USA. In the same year, a car assembly plant was opened in Germany. In 1949, Ford owned 44 automobile manufacturing plants, 18 car assembly plants, two test sites, and 13 research laboratories throughout the United States. In the post-war period, Ford is developing rapidly, gradually increasing the production of its cars and expanding sales markets. In 1964, the company released its most recognizable Mustang car – in the first hundred days, Ford received orders for 100,000 Mustangs.

It was a big commercial success. In the 1970s, an American company was the first in the world to install front disc brakes on a car. The new Ford Taurus, which appeared in 1985, became a bestseller in the US market.

In 1993, the Ford Mondeo was produced, in which the original safety standards were set. In 1994, this model was recognized in Europe as “Car of the Year” and became popular among buyers. In 1996, Ford produced its 250 millionth car.
