History of the Chevrolet brand

Chevrolet is a famous US car manufacturing company. The company was founded in 1911 by American businessman William Durant and French racing driver Louis Joseph Chevrolet. Durant later organized the General Motors car company, but Chevrolet never ran the company. The company’s cross emblem was taken by Durant from a wallpaper pattern in a Parisian hotel.

In August 1966, the Chevrolet Camaro rolled off the production line. With this car, Chevrolet gave an answer to the Ford Mustang – the latter was in great demand and there was no worthy alternative to it at that time. A year later, Chevrolet releases a supersport modification of the Camaro SS. In 1962, the name “Malibu” appeared for the first time – it was the “top” equipment of the Chevrolet Chevelle.

The attractive design of this model and rich equipment allowed the company to get a high level of sales and consolidate its position in the class of mid-size cars. With the advent of the 70s, Chevrolet modernizes its “muscle cars” making them more powerful and faster. But the impending fuel crisis did not allow further development – with rising gasoline prices, the company seeks to create more economical models.
